Why A.A. Has Spanish Speaking Meeting?

Alcoholics Anonymous(A.A.) offers Spanish-speaking meetings to ensure that the program is accessible to a diverse group of people, including those whose primary language is Spanish. Here are some key reasons:

Cultural Relevance: Language is deeply connected to culture. Spanish-speaking meetings allow participants to share their experiences, struggles, and recovery journeys in a way that resonates with their cultural background.
Comfort and Understanding: Many individuals feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language. Spanish-speaking meetings create an environment where participants can speak freely and be understood without language barriers.
Inclusivity: A.A. aims to be inclusive and available to everyone, regardless of language. By offering meetings in various languages, A.A. ensures that non-English speakers have equal access to support and resources.
Community Support: Spanish-speaking meetings help build a sense of community among Spanish-speaking individuals, fostering connections and mutual support, which are essential elements of the A.A. recovery process.

These meetings are part of A.A.'s broader commitment to providing support to people of all backgrounds in their journey toward recovery.

ADA Accessibility

Our team is committed to ensure the success of MBAR for everyone. Please discuss any areas not covered below with our Committee Members or volunteers. These general policies, rules and regulations are subject to change.

The Monterey Conference Center ADA compliance policy(Opens a new window) - The Monterey Conference Center (MCC) is ADA compliant. In accordance with the ADA, we are responsible for accommodations associated with permanent premise access, such as, but not limited to, wheelchair ramps, elevator standards, door width standards and restroom accessibility.

It is MBAR's responsibility to accommodate non-permanent accessibility requirements and incorporate visually-assisted devices, interpreters, and temporary seating accessibility if needed.

Assisted hearing devices are available through our preferred in-house Audio-Visual provider.

ADA Accessibility - MBAR 2024 will provide two ASL Interpreters on these days:

Friday - 1.5 hours
Saturday - 9:45am to 3:30pm and 7:45pm to 8:45pm
Sunday - 10:45am to 6:15pm
